Playful Home Office - Embrace brick walls instead of drywalling above them.

Craft Area-Plan for multiuse corners to optimize functionality in a small basement.
This laundry area doubles as a storage room, craft area and wrapping centre. Cabinetry constructed along the wall opposite the appliances holds lightbulbs, batteries, extra garbage bags and other household materials. A pegboard outfitted with dangling containers and tiny sticks keeps craft and wrap materials organized while an adjoining corkboard displays inspirational photographs for craft and reno projects. Open shelves were put high on the walls to add storage space without making the small room feel closed in; bins and baskets are used here in order to keep small things corralled.
High-Low Laundry Room-Dress up basic basement cabinets with vintage drawer pulls.
Designer Theresa Casey renovated her 600-square-foot cellar to add an office, guest bedroom and luxe laundry area. She stored on affordable white cabinetry but added classic grips, a marble counter tops, a gallery wall along with a vintage ladder to generate the utilitarian space look unique.
Toilet Vanity Makeover-Give a big-box shop locate a luxury appearance with a coat of paint.
Interior's manager Meg Crossley transformed her dingy basement toilet with a cheap washstand that she discovered in Canadian Tire. She painted it the same powdery light blue color as the panel moulding, which was installed to brighten up the small space by covering the first dark tile. A painted faade for the facet of the ugly old bathtub, at the same shade of blue, spared Meg the price of installing a new tub. A black framed mirror, flanked with easy black alloy and milk glass sconces, adds comparison to all the blue.
Refreshed Laundry Room
If you can't afford to move pipes, keep the sink and dress it up with a fabric skirt attached with double-sided Velcro. H&H style editor Sarah Hartill gave her basement laundry room a quick and effortless makeover by covering an old sink rack with a pretty floral skirt and adding a picture print rug to warm up the cold floor tile. A countertop built to fit over the laundry machines supplies a folding coating, while easy stainless steel shelves shop various materials.
Vibrant Laundry Room-Pinch pennies with MDF cabinets and add your trim.
H&H senior editor Meg Crossley turned into this unfinished basement laundry area into a laundry room oasis. Improper venting supposed the washer and dryer had to be moved to the opposite wall, in which they're currently hidden by bi-fold doors. Meg also included a convenient sink using a kitchen-worthy faucet, an upper shelf and lower cabinets for extra storage. A builder cut door fronts out of MDF, then Meg added Shaker trim for a personalized look. To provide the basement an airy atmosphere, the space had been painted white. Sico's Light Sugar (4150-11), an obsolete white, makes the ceilings seem higher without feeling cold or sterile. The cupboards were painted robin's egg blue to get a country-inspired look.
